BASSOON KRONWALT

The essential idea:

The origins of the wish to create a bassoon together lie in the long-standing friendship between the two companies of Rudolf Walter (Pleidelsheim) and Guntram Wolf (Kronach) – dating back to when the late Guntram Wolf himself was still working.

The fundamental idea was to blend the extensive and collected know-how of both companies. This has led to the creation of a fully-fledged, professional bassoon for the demanding bassoonist offering an attractive balance between performance and price.

Body:

• Made of mountain maple from areas which encourage slow growth of the material and which has been well-seasoned for many years
• Fabricated using CNC equipment designed for maximum precision and consistency in the production process
• Includes additional enhancement of the resonance using a special wood-immersion process
• All fingerholes have ebonite liners that extend into the bore
• Surface is finished with tough, hand-buffed high-lustre varnish

The keywork is designed for comfort and has the following features:

• The conventional mechanism is replaced with our patented, wear-free bearing system (LCBearing system), which is permanently free of rattles and does not require readjustment
• All axle rods and springs are made of stainless steel
• 3D-adjustable whisper key mechanism (can be adapted to all manufacturers’ bocals)
• Left hand: fingerholes 1, 2, 3 with C#/D# trill ring key, E/F# trill key, high E key (optional: D/Eb trill key)
• Left hand little finger (pinky): shaped low-Eb and C# touches with rollers
• Left thumb: high D, C and A speaker keys, C# key touch with roller, piano key with roller and lock, low D key with adjusting screw, C key (with additional touch), B and Bb
• Right hand: C# trill key, fingerhole 4, fingerhole 5 with ring-key for high G with adjusting screw, front Bb key touch, G key
• Right hand little finger: sculpted F, Ab, F# touches, each with roller
• Right thumb: Bb touch with roller, ergonomically shaped E key, F# with roller, Ab key
• 9 rollers (Eb, C#, front F#, F, Ab, back Bb and F# touch, C# touch, piano key)
• Additional adjustment screws for low-D key and high G ring-key
• Low D acoustic improvement
• Fingerholes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 have ebonite liners that extend into the bore
• All keys and fittings are generously silver-plated

All bassoons feature a handrest holder with a special clamping device, which keeps the handrest securely in the required position.

Because of the increasing occurrence of nickel allergies all our key mechanisms are fully silver-plated.
